Delta College Prep Adds Defenseman Cohen Waldschmidt for 2025-26 Season
Delta College Prep Hockey is proud to announce the addition of 2007-born defenseman Cohen Waldschmidt for the 2025-26 prep campaign. Cohen arrives from Colorado alongside his brother, goaltender Dryden Waldschmidt, who also joins DCP this season.
Last year, Cohen competed with the Coeur d'Alene Hockey Academy (CDA) in the CSSHL, Western Canada’s premier prep hockey circuit. He appeared in 41 games, contributing 2 goals and 2 assists, while building a reputation as a reliable shutdown defenseman. Known for his physicality and lockdown style of play, Cohen will be a key piece of the Delta College Prep blue line this season.
General Manager David Dew praised Cohen’s development and edge:
“Cohen is extremely physical. In Vegas at Globals I asked him to engage the wall and finish his hits—he was Scott Stevens the rest of the game, which speaks to his coachability and attitude. With a high-end prep resume and the intangibles he brings, he should be great for us this year.”
Head Coach Mitch Gillespie added:
“Cohen joins us from CDA Hockey Academy, where he established himself as a tough, physical presence on the blue line. He plays with an edge, takes pride in shutting down opponents, and brings a hard-nosed style that will make an immediate impact this season.”
