Delta College Prep Welcomes Back Defenseman Jason Bertrand for 2025-26
Delta College Prep Hockey is proud to announce the return of defenseman Jason Bertrand as a full-time roster member for the 2025-26 season. Bertrand, a native of Columbus, Ohio, joined DCP as an Affiliate Player (AP) during the 2024-25 campaign, where he established himself as a lockdown, physical defenseman who competes with grit and consistency.
Before joining Delta, Bertrand developed locally with the PHA Prowlers and SISU Thunderbirds programs. Last season, he appeared in 23 games for Delta College Prep, while also skating in 37 games for the SISU Thunderbirds 18U AA, contributing 3 assists and more than 30 penalty minutes. His tough, and steady style of play makes him a valuable piece of Delta’s defensive unit heading into 2025-26.
General Manager David Dew shared:
“We are very excited to have Berty with us full time this season. He’s a steady yet physical defenseman with a strong ability to work the corners. I vividly remember his call-up against Metro in the USPHL last season where he stood out as arguably the team’s strongest performer that night in terms of effort and physicality. Our roster and locker room are both lucky to have Berty back.”
Head Coach Mitch Gillespie added:
“Jason brings exactly what every team needs on the back end—toughness, reliability, and a willingness to play hard every shift. He impressed during his AP role last year, especially in how he embraced physical play against older competition. With a full season ahead, we expect him to be a key part of our blue line and someone opponents will always notice on the ice.”
