Delta College Prep Signs 2008 Defenseman Jason Black from Utah
Delta College Prep Hockey is proud to announce the signing of 2008-born defenseman Jason Black for the 2025-26 prep season. A native of Utah, Black played last year with the Oquirrh Mountaineers (USHS-UT) and was originally slated to compete at the 18U level in-state this year. However, after learning about the Delta College Prep platform, he chose to make the move to Ohio in pursuit of Tier 2 junior and NCAA hockey opportunities.
Known for his fast-paced, physical style of play, Black brings both grit and energy to the blue line, making him a valuable addition to Delta’s defensive core for the upcoming campaign.
General Manager David Dew shared:
“Jason joined us late in the recruiting process and made a big jump out to Ohio. We knew what we had in front of us after a few recruiting calls and film. Jason was not only a fit for us talent-wise but is also an unreal kid with great personality. He should contribute to this culture on and off the ice.”
Head Coach Mitch Gillespie added:
“Jason plays with pace and isn’t afraid to be physical, which makes him tough to play against. His willingness to leave and take on this challenge shows his commitment to development, and I believe he’ll make a smooth transition into prep hockey while being a strong asset on our blue line.”
