Delta College Prep Signs 6'3 2009 Slovakian Defenseman Matej Krajcovic
Delta College Prep Hockey is proud to announce the signing of 2009-born defenseman Matej Krajcovic for the 2025-26 prep season. Standing at 6’3”, Krajcovic is one of three international players joining the DCP roster this year, bringing size, skill, and European experience to the blue line.
Last season, Krajcovic split time between HC Slovan Bratislava (Slovakia U16), where he played 24 games, and HK Nove Zamky (Slovakia U18), where he dressed in 19 games as just a 14-year-old. His ability to compete against older players highlights his maturity and upside as a prospect. Across both levels, he contributed 2 goals and 8 assists for 10 points, showing offensive touch to complement his defensive presence.
For the first time in his career, Krajcovic will play in North America, using the college prep platform to gain exposure to Tier 1 and Tier 2 junior programs and build his resume toward a professional hockey path.
General Manager David Dew praised Krajcovic’s potential:
“Matej is a beast on the blue line. At 6’3” with an extremely lanky frame, he is the ideal base for an elite defensive prospect. His skating ability is strong after many reps on an Olympic-sized sheet, and North American experience with older players will do wonders for his development. The sky is the limit for this 2009 import.”
Head Coach Mitch Gillespie added:
“At 6’3, Matej brings great size to the blue line and pairs it with a strong understanding of the game. He’s still growing into his frame, but once he gets his legs fully underneath him, we expect him to take off and become a major presence on our back end.”
